Clydesdale Regatta

Next Race – Saturday 25th May 2024

This years event on Saturday 25th May 2024 will run over the short course only.

In 1857, the first known main regatta took place on the Clyde. The first Clydesdale annual Regatta was held in 1862, with the Illustrated London News describing it as the “Scottish Henley”. The finish was around the area where Clydesdale’s boathouse was eventually built in 1905.

The long course from 1857 is 1500m, starting at Polmadie bridge and finishing at Clydesdale Boathouse, and the short course runs from just past the South Portland Street Suspension Bridge to the Clydesdale Boathouse, about 500m.
