Clydesdale Scullers Head

Please note that this year (2026) Clydesdale Scullers Head will be held on a Sunday due to an event being held in Glasgow Green on Saturday limiting river road access.
Introduced in 1967, Clydesdale Scullers Head is a processional race; it was initially single sculls only but in 2007 a second division was added for double sculls. We will be holding junior and senior single and double sculls in separate divisions to aid clubs with boat sharing.
For 2026 we will be running three divisions. Division 1 and 3 will both run over the 4km course on the River Clyde, from Dalmarnock Bridge to the Western Edge of the View Platform in Glasgow Green. Division 2 is new and designed for those newer to rowing; it will be run over a 2km course from Rutherglen Bridge to the Western Edge of the View Platform in Glasgow Green. This division will include J14 and J15 singles, a beginner single for those who learned to row after June 2025, and coxed quads will be included for the first time in this event. For all divisions local knowledge is an advantage, but no substitute for nerve and determination.
For the single sculls at Clydesdale Scullers Head your finishing position from the previous year determines your starting position for the current year. All new entries start at the back of the pack. The fastest sculler from the previous year then leads the other competitors who are set off at 10 second intervals.

2026 Division 1 (10:30am): 4km Course – Senior Singles and Junior Doubles
2026 Division 2 (12:30pm): 2km Course – Coxed Quads, J14 1x, J15 1x, and Beginner 1x (for anyone Beginner eligible at 2026 British Rowing Championships).
2026 Division 3 (2:30pm): 4km Course – Junior Singles and Senior Doubles
ADAPTIVE CATEGORIES: these can be included in any division please email entries@clydesdalearc.org.uk and we can arrange with you a suitable division/time for you to race.
Prizes: will be awarded to the fastest women’s and open crew in each category.
