Racing and Events

Racing

The club participates in a variety of events throughout the year. At the start of the season, from September onwards, we compete in Head races which are long distance time trials where competitors are set off one after another. These races are typically 4-5km, although some are longer, like the Head of the River Races on the Thames. In the spring we move into Regatta season where the races become head to head sprints over shorter distances of 2km or less.

Clydesdale ARC Events

The club runs 4 events each year; 3 competitions that are open to clubs from across the country and one corporate event. More information about each event and details of how to enter can be found on the event pages.

Club Kit

Racing and ‘on water’ kit: Rival Kit

‘Off water’ kit: Two Player Print

If you need to order kit for an event please place your order in plenty of time. If the kit you want isn’t currently provided by our suppliers, contact them with your request; they may be able to source this for you.

Club colours must be worn when racing. This takes the form of a club All-in-one (one piece) which is navy with two white stripes up the sides and the club emblem. This can either be worn on its own or with a white long or short-sleeved top underneath, depending on weather conditions.

There are no kit requirements for general rowing and training at Clydesdale ARC. We recommend that you wear comfortable and close fitting sports clothing with pockets that can be closed. Shorts or leggings with a t-shirt or long-sleeve are good ideas as an alternative to a singlet and base layers, with a hat and easily removable extra layers for colder weather (you’ll warm up as you row). We also recommend that you wear trainers or wellies.
