Our own head race, Clydesdale Scullers Head, took place on Saturday 25th October. Competitors were treated to a sunny autumnal day on the river Clyde, although they were met with a strong headwind.
This year’s event saw numerous entries from CARC, Glasgow Academy, GRC, and SPRC with each of these clubs coming away with pennant wins. Thank you to everyone who took part, we look forward to welcoming you again next year!

Notable results:
- The open single pennant was won by Ben Parsonage in a time of 14:40.3.
- The women’s single pennant was won by Caitlin W from GRC in a time of 16:56.6, Caitlin was racing above her age group in the W U23 category.
- The open junior pennant was won by Andrew M from Glasgow Academy in a time of 16:56.4.
- The women’s junior pennant was won by Anna S from CARC in a time of 18:55.2, Anna was racing in the W J16 category.
- George Parsonage from CARC competed in his 58th Clyde HORR, meaning he has competed at every event since 1967.

Senior Men:
In addition to Ben’s win of the singles event, the senior men put in several entries for Clydesdale Scullers Head coming away with several wins. Thomas put in an impressive performance to finish second overall and won the Open U23 1x category. Fred entered his first Clydesdale Scullers Head and took a win in the Open R2 1x. Paul came 3rd in a competitive Open Masters D-F category, and Douglas won the Open Masters (G-F) category with Daniel finishing 2nd in this category, John finishing 3rd, and George finishing 4th. Finally, Evgeni, having lost his novice status during the summer, put in a solid performance in the Open R2 singles finishing 5th in that category.
For second division, Thomas and Fred doubled up and came 2nd behind a strong GUBC/Stirling RC composite crew.
Senior Women:
Veronika put in a strong performance in the Women’s Single to come second. Elle took a win in the Women’s R2 1x with Hannah also finishing 5th in this category.
Second division saw Elle and Veronika competing in the Women’s double, taking the pennant for the fastest women’s double. In this division Hannah was joined by Christina and together they won the novice women’s double.
Mixed Doubles:
Clydesdale has two mixed doubles crews competing in the first division on Saturday. Margaret and Mark took the win in this category, with Carole and Tim coming in 2nd place.
Juniors:
First Division saw Fern and Grace win the Women’s J16 2x, with Tara and Ava finishing in 3rd place. Eilidh and Anya took 2nd place in the Women’s J14 2x.
Second division for the juniors saw them race in their singles. Finlay finished in a close 2nd place in the Open J18 1x, followed by Hamish in 3rd place. For the junior girls four athletes took the water in their singles. Anna took the junior win in the Women’s J16 1x followed closely behind by Darcey in 2nd place. Fern finished in 5th place in the W J16 1x but was racing up an age category. Olivia competed in her first race for Clydesdale this weekend and finished in 3rd place in the W J18 1x.
